Ever wondered what might happen if one of the planets suddenly jumped out of sequence? What if Pluto (yes, I still believe) said one day, “I think I’ll turn around and go the other way”. What kind of chaos in the cosmos would ensue?
Earlier in the week, I said, “If you are a Christian and are having a hard time reading your Bible, you are being seduced by the enemy”.
I thought about the word seduced all week. The word “deception” came to mind.
Today I finished Revelation. And there it was.
In Revelation 20:1-3, the angel comes and binds up Satan, throwing him into the abyss “so that he would not deceive the nations any longer” (New American Standard Bible).
I bet you know what I did.
Yep. I looked it up.
The word in Greek is planaō. The first thing I see is the word plan.
Part of the definition is “to deviate from God’s perfect will”. Another part said it even better: “relates to the pains of living in self-government. Veering off God’s course – out of his orbit of safety” (New American Standard Exhaustive Concordance Dictionary).
To be deceived is to be Pluto jumping out of turn and going the other way.
Jumping off track.
Do not be deceived.
Do not allow yourselves to be seduced by the enemy.
His greatest mission is to cause you to think on all sorts of things and convince you that you don’t have time for the Word of God.
Don’t be rocked to sleep.
If your life feels “off track” I’ve been there too.
Waaaaaaay off track.
So I feel your pain. I have lived out “the pains of living in self-government”.
But I woke up.
To the truth of God’s Word.
Jump in. The Water is fresh and alive. I dare you.
